It’s a new week and so time for some new motivation to help us get our week started. Here are some quotes for you to inspire your grind! Everybody wants to be famous, but nobody wants to do the work. I live by that. You grind hard so you can play hard. At the end of the day, you put all the work in, and eventually it’ll pay off. It could be in a year, it could be in 30 years. Eventually, your hard work will pay off. – Kevin Hart I see you grinding, I see your patience, I see your late nights and early mornings. Hard work pays off. – The Universe Welcome to the grind. The battle royal between you, your mind, your body and the devil on your shoulder telling you this is just a waste of time. – Unknown There’s no substitute for hard work – Thomas Edison Success isn’t always about greatness. It’s about consistency. Consistent hard work leads to success. Greatness will come. – Dwayne Johnson I believe …
There was a time I was working two jobs and instead of resting, I chose meeting my friends and family over sleep. If anyone used the words: “But I haven’t seen you for so long,” or “I need a favor,” I’d put my rest aside and do what I thought had to be done. As a matter of fact, I’d feel guilty when I chose to do what felt good for me.
Sounds familiar? If so, here are 3 reasons why it’s okay to choose for yourself.
Are you experiencing the Monday Blues? Absolutely not in the mood to be an adult and fulfill your responsibilities? Can you hear your bed to have a cheatday? Hey, it’s okay. Life isn’t always a party. It can be, but since you’re reading this clearly that’s not the case. We all have days where we just don’t have the fuel to get ourselves going. When I started writing this at 6.23am on my way to work, I was still contemplating to get off the bus and return back home. But Beyoncé didn’t become the queen by laying in bed and watch series, now did she? Even though it’s okay to have one of those days, the problem with demotivation is that it can linger longer than one day. Even worse, it hinders you from making progress! So how about we look into ways to get you motivated, so you can absolutely slay this week? Before we get into what could work, let me start off by shedding a light on what doesn’t get you motivated. …
Raise your hand if you sometimes hide your magic on purpose. If you raised your hand, I have 3 reasons why you need to quit hiding your magic!
A few days ago some of my closest friends a.k.a my master mind group were having one of our early morning group conversations which started with my proposal of “killing ourselves” by going out the night before a seminar we’re attending together. One of them immediately jumped in on the invite. That’s just how he is, he’s the reckless one among us and also our bartender and no this is not a good combination, we barely make it out alive after one night with him. But after I sent out the invite, I was like…Yo, I gotta think this thru. I also gotta work that day, attend my kid brother’s game (trust me this requires almost as much energy as playing the game), next day we got a seminar and I also wanna go out? My old ass self usually need at 48 hours to recover after a night out. This would be a form of suicide! His words: it’s not something that we haven’t done before. And that’s when it hit me. He was …
I said it once and I’ll say it again, this year flew by!
But for the first time in a while I can look back at the year with a smile on my face.
I have failed, overcome and grown in a way that 3 years ago I didn’t deem as possible.
Which is why as a little shoulder pat to myself, I’m listing some of my highlights of ’17.
Are you a procrastinator?
Do you wait for tomorrow to fulfill your dreams. Then this one is for you.
This post was inspired by a post I recently read about this 29-year young, ambitious woman who’s full of dreams. Sounds like me, right? The big difference is, she might not make it to see 40.
I’d like to dedicate this piece to my dear friend. She called me last night -we hadn’t talked on the phone or in person for at least 2-3 months- to tell me how much my previous post. This meant a lot, as this is exactly the reason I do this. But then she asked me a question and it was a question I had asked myself many times. How do I keep going when everything is going to shit?
Had she asked me this 4 years ago, I would’ve told her: by surviving.
But now, in 2017, I know how to keep going even when everything seems to fall apart and I want to share it with you.
One thing that gets me going every morning, is by listening to podcasts. Whether it’s an hour long self-affirmation or a five-minute motivation, I enjoy the comfort of receiving positivity without having to stop my daily activities. I literally have a whole playlist of podcasts that I repeatedly listen to while I get ready for work. Which is a great way to get my energy going.
Because a good start of the day can lead to an even better day, which can lead to a great week, I want to share some of my favorite podcasts with you.
Well, queen of wishing c’est moi. Unconsciously so. I don’t know how many times I’ve said I wanted something and got mad (not frustrated, just straight up furious) my dreams weren’t becoming reality. It wasn’t until this year that I had made one of my resolutions to actually see my dreams come to life that I found out that I wasn’t being SMART.
