My 6 favorite beauty products of 2019

Coverphoto beauty products

For those I didn’t wish all the best as yet: wishing you all a wonder full 2020. May you tune into your greatness and live your best life.

Especially if your 2019 was turbulent like mine.

My arm basically put my whole life on hold, preventing me from fulfilling most of the goals that I had set. Yet, when I reflected on the goals I had set, I found out that I had accomplished some goals: exercise more, drink more water and get clearer skin.

Check, check and check.

Some of you may notice a connection between the three. And there’s a whole theory behind it, but that’s not what you came for. You came to find out what products I’ve been absolutely adoring in 2019. So, why not get to it?

Just so you know, this post may contain affiliate links.

Aloe 99% Soothing Gel

Holika Holika | Beauty Bay | €8.78
€9.75

All my oily-skinned people out there, this gel right here…It has saved me during the summer. I have tried creams of aloe as it’s supposed to be great for oily skin. None of them have worked. But this gel has.

It is mostly water-based (plus practically feels like water) and thoroughly hydrates the skin, without leaving your face feeling sticky or oily. For days where I wanted to go out barefaced, this was my go to moisturizer.

Plus, the price is great for the amount you get. Especially since all you need is a drop. Sans exaggerating.

Long Lasting Liquid Eyeliner Waterproof

Misslyn| Beauty Bay | €8.50

Besides oily skin, I deal with teary eyes. And I’m not talking about the movie kinda teary eyes where literally one tear will elegantly roll down your cheek. No, I’m talking about the Niagara Falls coming out of my eyes, rolling down my cheek ruining all my make-up.

So you understand the importance of tear-proof eyeliner if I want to keep my cat-eye sharp. This baby did it for me. It withstands the Dutch weather and my tears. And only for €8.50? I say it’s a win.

Radiant Creamy Concealer

Nars | Nars Cosmetics | €26.88 ($30)

Staying along the lines of waterproof eye-makeup, I needed something to hide the bags that are neither Louis or Chanel. Because water might be the answer to a lot, it is the answer for these dark circles.

I had never used concealer in my life before. Only foundation. However, as someone who’s not fond of the feel of the way foundation all over her face (and why would I? Now that my skin has cleared up a lot), I believed it was time to get some coverage for under ze eyes. Preferably light to medium coverage, but definitely waterproof. According to the lists on Bustle, Cosmopolitan and Betches; Nars fit the description.

Now, I’m not gonna lie. I thought it was quite pricey, but I bought it during my birthdaytrip in London on my birthday. I decided I was gonna go all out. So I thought:

The Saharan Blush Palette Vol. 1

Juvia’s Place | Beauty Bay | €23.75

I used to own this creamy pink blush, but that was all the blush I had. Though, I don’t use blush often, when going for the full beat I would feel like there’s a gap between my contour and my highlight.

I needed a new blush. So why not immediately go for 4? And while we’re at it, add 2 extra highlights to the collection.

It’s fair to say that Juvia’s did a good job stealing my heart in 2019. Their products are so pigmented, I absolutely love it.

I do want to point out that the palette on Juvia’s own website is sold for €16,13 or $18 (currently for sale for €8.06), but if you’re living in the Netherlands you will have to pay shipping fees of $17,77. Which is €15,92. Whereas via Beauty Bay you only pay €5.95. Plus. you don’t have to pay any taxes when you pick it up at the post office which cost me another €18. It doesn’t take a math genius to get me.

Afrik Matte Liquid Lipstick

Juvia’s Place | Juvia’s Place | €5,38 €10,75

Right along their blush palette, I bought this red lipstick as well as their concealer*. I literally only went to their website for the concealer. However, me being the (red) lipstick junkie that I am, I fell for their bright red liquid lipstick.

I’ve been looking for a red lipstick that actually stays bright red, even on my dark lips and this one does exactly that.

You see that? Incredibly pigmented red. Without a hint of blue in sight. I carry it with me at all times, in case I decide to have an impromptu drinking date. And will hold for a night out drinking! Trust me.

Oh by the way, on this photo I’m also wearing my NARS concealer and the Saharan Blush Palette (highlight: Zara, blush: Aby).

Princess Cut

So Juicy Plumping Lipgloss | Colourpop | €6.27

To all my nostalgic 90’s babies who spend the 2000’s with their clear lipgloss, this one’s for you. I don’t even need the plumping effect, but I love the minty feel and how it makes my lips even juicier. Along with my red lipstick, I carry this with me all the time.

Sadly enough, just like Juvia’s the shipping fee to the Netherlands is quite steep and you still have to pay taxes as well. For a $7 gloss, I might as well start looking for a replacement for when this one runs out.

And that was that on my fav’s of 2019. What were your beauty go to’s of 2019?

The concealer didn’t make the list, not because it’s not good. But because I’m personally not a fan of full coverage. If you’re into full coverage, then their concealer is definitely for you. It’s water resistant and doesn’t budge!
